powell peralta and the bones birgade? but if i'm not mistaken that was over 20 year ago and the mastermind behind it left along with the entire team except for cab and the company soon went bankrupt but was resurrected by the skate-one corporation. powell peralta is nostalgia. stacey is making a documentary about his legacy which is amazing and something we are all looking forward to. this beef isn't about the church having competition or the fact that they hired away our manager, this happens all the time in business. the church has never worried about competition, we've always competed with shops like white sands, esteem, sb skateshop and have never went on the attack. whats different about the skate-one corporation is hearing the rumor that one of their top employees saying something to the affect of "our shop will be the final nail in tonys coffin." WTF??? it's that vindictiveness that drove us to defend ourselves. why would they want the church gone? greed? jealousy? who knows? in the past 15 years the church has sponsored and hired numerous local skaters, donated $20,000.00 to help build the skate park, provided a place for skaters to hang out and link up, made videos, thrown parties, has always been skater owned and operated and most importantly NEVER SOLD ROLLERBLADES! we actually reached out and extended an olive branch recently and were declined. because of their vindictive behavior we have recently discovered some the skeletons in their closet (and yes we found him wearing rollerblades.) their response is "nobody cares" WE DO! this also isn't about everyone who works for them, we have friends and people we respect who work for powell. this is about being disrespected and defending ourselves. were gonna continue to do what we do so if you love powell? congratulations!!
